Project: Ceramic Art in Kyoto

Kyoto, Japan.

In Kyoto, the old capital of Japan, where the heart of traditional art still beats firmly, Kiyomizu Ceramics have been made since before the Heian period (794-1185).

Kiyomizu Ceramics are intended for practical daily use but are amazingly decorated with designs that are delicate, elegant, and powerful. In my numerous trips to Kyoto I met with some prominent traditional ceramic artists in order to listen to the heartbeat of one of the Japanese traditional arts.
